Chesterton High School’s Sydney Cooley competed on Jan. 5-6 in the Queen of
Diamonds Showcase North (QDSN) at Kent State University in Ohio.
The QDSN, now in its 19th season, is part of the Queen of Diamond’s Softball
Showcase events which are the largest fastpitch softball showcases of its
kind in the U.S. The event this year had 368 High School athletes competing
from 20+ states and two Canadian Provinces.
Cooley received two MVP awards for pitching (25 strikeouts in 14 innings)
and for leading the team in hitting. She was then selected as one of 14
players to the QDSN All-Tournament Team.
Cooley has also been chosen to play softball overseas in the Netherlands as
part of the NAST (North American Select Team), which is the QDSN National
team.
She also plays for Chesterton HS and the Duneland Flyers summer travel team.
