CHS Volleyball sweeps Michigan City Marquette

The Chesterton volleyball team swept its home opener with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-9 victory over Michigan City Marquette on Tuesday.

Offensively, Katie Nelson had 18 kills with Meghan Gaffigan adding 13 kills. Emma Ekblaw tallied five kills in the win. Maggie Vrahoretis dished out a team best 33 assists.

Defensively, Ella Rodriguez had a team-high nine digs, while Eve Everett, Nelson and Vrahoretis all tallied eight digs.

On the service line, Everett recorded eight aces with Vrahoretis adding four aces.

The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they travel to Lowell to take on the Red Devils. The JV match is set for a 5 p.m. start.
