CHS Volleyball splits in Plymouth

The Chesterton volleyball team went 2-2 overall on Saturday at the Plymouth Invitational.

The Trojans picked up victories over Ft. Wayne Snider (22-25, 25-21, 15-11) and Valparaiso (25-14, 25-13), while dropping decisions to Crown Point (25-13, 25-13) and Penn (25-11, 25-15).

Offensively, Meghan Gaffigan led CHS with 42 kills, while Katie Nelson added 12 kills. Emma Ekblaw tallied 11 kills and Maggie Vrahoretis contributed six kills.

Vrahoretis also had a team-high 59 assists.

Defensively, Nelson led the way with 28 digs and Gaffigan tallied 24 digs. Vrahoretis recorded 20 digs and AJ Devereaux pitched in with 15 digs.

At the net, Reese Czarniecki and Ella Rodriguez had five blocks each, while Vrahoretis and Gaffigan had four blocks apiece.

On the service line, Devereaux, Eva Everett and Vrahoretis each recorded three aces.

The Trojans return to the floor on Tuesday when they travel to Valparaiso to take on the Vikings. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. start.
