CHS Volleyball opens with win at Morton

The Chesterton volleyball team opened its season with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-9 victory at Hammond Morton on Tuesday night.

Offensively, Maggie Vrahoretis and Maddie Wagner each had eight kills to lead the Trojans. Meghan Gaffigan tallied six kills with Sydney Baltus and Emma Ekblaw adding three kills each.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-best 15 assists, while Vrahoretis tallied 12 helpers.

Defensively, Baltus led the Trojans with four digs. AJ Devereaux and Greta Tilden added three digs each. Smilgius, Vrahoretis and Wagner all collected two digs in the victory.

On the service line, Smilgius led the way with seven aces and Devereaux contributed six.

Chesterton returns to the court on Thursday when they host Lowell.
