CHS Volleyball falls in Sectional Semis

The Chesterton volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday in a 25-16, 25-22, 25-15 loss to Michigan City in the semifinals of the IHSAA Hobart Sectional.

Michigan City beat Valparaiso 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 in the Championship.

Offensively, Taylor Bowser led the Trojans with 10 kills, while Ariel Rohe finished with five kills. Meghan Gaffigan and Maggie Vrahoretis each tallied four kills with Maddie Wagner adding three kills.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-best 26 assists.

On the service line, Vrahoretis had two aces as Smilgius and Sammy Devereaux each added one.

Defensively, Lorann Lombardini had 21 digs and Bowser had 11 digs. Devereaux recorded seven digs, while McKenna Guernsey and Smilgius had five digs each.

At the net, Wagner had four block kills and Caroline Parks added two blocks.

The Trojans finished 15-17 overall.
