CHS volleyball falls 3 times

The Chesterton volleyball team dropped three decisions at the Elkhart Memorial Invitational on Saturday.

The Trojans lost matches to Plymouth (27-25, 15-25, 15-12), Homestead (27-25, 25-17) and Elkhart Memorial (19-25, 25-11, 15-12).

Offensively, Taylor Bowser led the Trojans with 23 kills, while Maggie Vrahoretis added 16 kills. Meghan Gaffigan contributed nine kills and Ariel Rohe tallied eight kills.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-high 41 assists with Vrahoretis getting 28 helpers.

On the service line, Lorann Lombardini had five aces and Caroline Parks had four aces.

Defensively, Lombardini had 38 digs with Bowser adding 24 digs. Sammy Devereaux had 22 digs and Vrahoretis tallied 18 digs. Smilgius contributed 16 digs.

At the net, Parks had seven block kills and Maddie Wagner added four blocks. Gaffigan, Rohe and Vrahoretis all had three blocks on the day.

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Michigan City. The JV game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
