CHS Volleyball beats Valparaiso in 5 games

The Chesterton volleyball team battled back from two games down to beat Duneland Athletic Conference rival Valparaiso 26-28, 14-25, 25-17, 30-28, 15-13 Thursday night.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Sydney Baltus with 15 kills, while Taylor Bowser added 12 kills. Maggie Vrahoretis tallied eight kills and Maddie Wagner had four.

Vivi Smilgius dished out 37 assists.

On the service line, Smilgius had three aces with Caroline Parks and Vrahoretis adding two each.

Defensively, Lorann Lombardini had a team-best 33 digs, while Bowser added 23 and Sammy Devereaux had 18 digs. Vrahoretis tallied 17 digs with Smilgius adding 12.

At the net, Parks had six blocks and Smilgius added three blocks. Baltus, Vrahoretis and Wagner all recorded two blocks in the victory.
