CHS VB wins in regular season finale

The Chesterton volleyball team won its regular season finale 25-22, 25-18, 25-10 on Thursday night at Highland.

Offensively, Shelby Ruffner led the Trojans with 11 kills, while Katie Urycki, Emily Nix and Jessica Urycki all had seven kills. Jennifer Williams added three kills.

Williams also dished out a team-best 20 assists with Ari Mahaffey adding 10 assists.

Defensively, Sara Tarnowski led the way with 10 digs, while Williams, Katie Urycki and Emily Marcus all had six digs. Mahaffey added five digs in the victory.

At the net, Ruffner had four block kills and Williams added two block kills.

Record: Chesterton 24-9.

Junior Varsity

Highland 17-25-15,

Chesterton 25-17-7

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped its regular season finale 17-25, 25-17, 15-7 at Highland on Thursday.

Offensively, Samantha Stueber led the Trojans with five kills, while Whitney Schreiber and Aubrey Nagdeman each tallied two kills.

Nagdeman and Shelby Snyder each dished out seven assists.

Defensively, Snyder had a team-high 11 digs with Emily Parkerson tallying nine digs. Carley Bartolini, Lia Lombardini and Ashley Hecimovich all had five digs.


Chesterton 25-25, Highland 21-18

The Chesterton freshman team finished its season with a 25-21, 25-18 victory over Highland.

Offensively, Taylor Eaton led the Trojans with three kills. Caitlyn Toth, Kaylee Goin and Elena Azcona all had two kills.

Toth also dished out a team-high eight assists.

Defensively, Toth led the way with eight digs, while Azcona added seven digs. Taylor Rodriguez had five digs and Eaton had four digs in the victory.

Azcona led the way at the net with two block kills.
