The Chesterton girls tennis team dominated singles play and had little
trouble in picking up a 4-1 win over LaPorte in the DAC opener for both
teams on Thursday.
“It was nice to have a convincing win in our DAC opener,” Chesterton coach
Gretchen Shinn said. “Everyone played well and enjoyed a conference win.”
Bobbi Modesto was first off the court at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win
over Hillary Frye, followed shortly after by Margaret Shinn with a 6-0, 6-1
victory at No. 2 singles over Alison Searle.
J.J. Lee completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hannah Barden
at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, Sunny Lee and Rachel McCrum got the Trojans fourth point with a
6-4, 6-2 win over Kristin Sanders and Taylor Crider at No. 1.
