The Chesterton tennis dropped a 3-2 decision to Valparaiso in Thursday afternoon’s Championship match of the IHSAA Portage Sectional.

The Trojans mustered the first two points, as usual, with dominating performances at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

Bobbi Modesto beat Kelly Kennedy 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and will advance to the Individual Regional, while Margaret Shinn had little trouble in a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Caitlin Kennedy.

The Trojans dropped decisions at No. 3 singles as Valpo’s Katherine McDonald beat J.J. Lee 6-0, 6-4 and in both doubles matches.

Allison Hauser and Lauren Kammerer beat Rachel McCrum and Sunny Lee 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 and Amanda Stolarz and Sonja Schaefer beat Brittny Stephan and Amanda Susnak 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

The Trojans finished the season 13-5 overall.
