The Chesterton girls tennis team advanced to the IHSAA Sectional Finals with a 4-1 victory over Portage on Wednesday afternoon at Portage.

The Trojans swept singles play with straight-set victories including a 6-2, 6-3 win for Bobbi Modesto at No. 1 over Carly Bermes.

At No. 2, Margaret Shinn beat Kacie McGuire 6-0, 6-0 and J.J. Lee beat Abby Clark 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Rachel McCrum and Sunny Lee were victorious over Abby Hargarten and Michelle Comerford 6-3, 6-1.

The Trojans will face off against Valparaiso for the Sectional title today at 4 p.m. at Portage High School.
