The Chesterton boys
tennis team finished third overall in the four-team South Bend St. Joe
Tournament on Saturday.
The host Indians
won the event with Westfield finishing runner-up.
In singles, Chad
Whelan played at No. 1 and finished 0-3 overall, while Luke Liapes was 1-2
at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Nick Hanson was 1-1 and Danny Vear
dropped his lone decision in the spot.
At No. 4 singles,
Corydon Gaff swept the tournament with a 3-0 record. Gaff lost just nine
games in three matches.
In doubles, Drew
Engels and James Navarro were 1-2, while Azeez Lakhani and John Powell were
0-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, John Petro and Troy Feller finished 1-2 on the day.
Rounding out the
lineup at No. 4 doubles was Sawyer Metz and Joe Wadowski went 2-0 before
giving way to Jack Ward and Drake Redman who fell in the third match of the
day at No. 4.
The Trojans return
to the court on Saturday when they head to the Penn Invitational.
