CHS Softball Sectional game suspended

Back To Front Page

The Chesterton softball team opened IHSAA Sectional play on Monday night, but not for very long.

The Trojansí game against Michigan City was called in the top of the second inning due to lightning and rain and will be picked up again today at 5 p.m. in LaPorte at Kesling Park.

Chesterton went 1-2-3 in the top of the first against Michigan City starter Jaden Lane.

Trojan starter Sydney Cooley did the same thing to the Wolves in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second, Bailey Slivka led off with a single to centerfield.

Jill Bohnertís sacrifice bunt resulted in an error and put runners on second and third when the game was called.

The two teams will pick up from that point tonight.

In other first round games, Portage defeated Hobart 5-4, while Valparaiso beat LaPorte 3-2. Crown Point also advanced with a 10-0 victory over Merrillville.
