The Chesterton softball team gave away a potential DAC victory on Thursday
by allowing eight unearned runs in an 8-4 loss at LaPorte.
The Trojans built a 3-0 lead as Jeannette Sosnowski doubled and Jaren Lynch
singled to start the third inning. Taylor Harlow walked to load the bases
and Megan Matheny doubled with two outs.
Ryan Bozak’s single scored Harlow.
LaPorte put a pair of singles together and a potential inning-ending ground
ball was booted to load the bases. A pop up in foul territory was misplayed
and led to a grand slam and a 4-3 Slicer lead.
The Trojans tied the score as Sydney Cooley singled and eventually scored
when Sarah Richards reached on a two-out error.
In the sixth, LaPorte had players reach base on a two-out error and a bunt
single. An RBI single, followed by back-to-back Chesterton errors set the
final score.
