The Chesterton softball team pounded out 17 hits and had little trouble in
picking up an easy 15-2 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Merrillville
“Several of the girls had good nights with the bat,” Chesterton coach LouAnn
Hopson said. “It was good to get everyone in and have them all get a couple
of at bats.”
The Trojans wasted little time as Jaren Lynch and Heather Overla reached on
Lynch scored the game’s first run on a Sydney Cooley ground out and Overla
scored on a Megan Matheny double.
Chesterton added four more runs in the second when Megan Tymorek doubled to
start the frame and Sarah Richards reached on an error.
Tymorek scored on a Lynch ground out and Richards on a single by Overla.
Matheny’s second hit of the night scored Overla for a 6-0 lead.
In the third, Tymorek and Ryan Bozak started the inning with singles before
Richards beat out a bunt to load the bases. Lynch single to score Tymorek

Harlow allowed just two hits and recorded eight strikeouts to get the

run, while McKenzie and Alexa Olson both had a pair of singles. Sierra
