CHS Softball beats Michigan City 10-0

The Chesterton softball team improved to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 10-0 victory over Michigan City on Tuesday.

The Trojans wasted little time as Shelby Grimm walked to start the bottom of the first and Maddie Snemis doubled her home. Snemis scored on Kari LaFreniereís RBI ground out.

CHS rallied again in the third as Grimm singled and stole second before advancing to third on a bad throw. Snemisí RBI single plated Grimm and she scored when Kristi Stevenson reached on a fielderís choice.

LaFreniere reached on another fielderís choice. LaFreniere and Stevenson scored on Lauren Andersonís triple. Cassidy Grimmís sacrifice fly scored Anderson for a 6-0 lead.

The final tallies of the night came in the fourth when Shelby Grimm single and stole second. Snemisí second double of the game scored Grimm. Snemis scored on Stevensonís RBI single.

LaFreniere plated Stevenson with an RBI single and scored when Anderson singled to set the final score.

Anderson worked all five innings in the circle and struck out seven in picking up the win.

The Trojans return to the field tonight when they travel to LaPorte for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
