The Chesterton softball got two runs in the third inning and Megan Tymorek
made that more than enough as the Trojans beat Kankakee Valley on Thursday.
“Megan had a real nice outing,” Chesterton coach LouAnn Hopson said. “She
did a nice job of getting ground balls and pop-up’s to keep us out of
trouble. And the defense did an outstanding job of making the plays.”
Sarah Richards started the third inning off by reaching on an error. Shelby
Carter and Sammie Howard both singled to load the bases. Megan Matheny
reached on a one-out error that scored both Richards and Carter with the
game’s only runs.
Tymorek struck out six and allowed just two hits in picking up the victory.
“Sarah (Richards) and Mallory (McKee) were busy on the right side and both
made some nice plays,” Hopson said. “It wasn’t easy playing the infield
tonight. Hard hit ground balls were an adventure, but the girls played very
focused.”
