Depth and size made a difference Tuesday night.

The Chesterton gymnastics team battled through injuries and sickness, but pulled out a 104.55-88.40 victory at Hobart on Tuesday.

“We had some injuries and some sickness, but the girls pulled together and put on a good show,” Chesterton coach Lauren West said. “We proved we could have some people out and deal with some adversity and still put up a good, solid score.”

Brandi Tuzinski finished second in every event for the Trojans, including All-Around (36.55).

“Brandi was really solid for us all the way around,” West said. “Rachel Noel got a great score for us on vault that was big. Mary Choucalas competed all-around for the first time and got some experience that should help her down the road.”

The Trojans competed without all-arounders Marisa Myers, Lindsey Campbell and Amanda Erxleben.

“We had three all-arounders out today,” West said. “That’s the advantage to having a big team. We had some new people do some things and get some experience they didn’t have before.”
