CHS Girls win Warsaw Holiday Tourney title

The Chesterton girls basketball team racked up two more victories in winning the Warsaw Holiday Tournament on Wednesday.

In the opener, the Trojans beat Perry Meridian 53-37.

Courtney Krol led the offense with 23 points, while Maddie Scott and Sarah Dzierba each added 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Marney Sisson (6 points), Hailey Vale (3 points) and Nalani Malackowski (1 point).

In the championship, Chesterton edged the host Tigers 40-39.

Krol again led the offense with 11 points and Vale added nine points.

Rounding out the scoring were Sisson (6 points), Ashley Craycraft (6 points), Scott (4 points) and Dzierba (4 points).

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday, Jan. 2 when they host Gary West Side beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Chesterton girls junior varsity team fell in the championship game of the Warsaw Holiday Tournament 37-34 to the host Tigers on Wednesday.

The Trojans beat Wawasee 39-15 in the days opening game.

Against Wawasee, Nalani Malackowski led the Trojans with 12 points, while Emma Schmidt added 11 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Sydney Balas (6 points), Kaitlynn Carr (4 points), Hollie Skoczek (2 points), Tori Gerhardt (2 points), Laruen Davis (2 points).

Against Warsaw, Malackowski led the way with 13 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Gerhardt (6 points), Balas (5 points), Jaelynne Corral (3 points), Skoczek (3 points), Schmidt (2 points) and Davis (2 points).
