CHS Girls Tennis falls to CP

The Chesterton girls tennis team dropped a 5-0 Duneland Athletic Conference decision to Crown Point.

Olivia Vesling was the lone Trojan to win a set, but fell 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles against Emily Rhee.

In doubles, Rachel Fredenburg and Megan Hill put up the best fight before losing a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Caroline Johnson and Erica Green at No. 2.

The Trojans return to the court today when they travel to Culver Academy for a 4:30 p.m. start.

Singles -- 1. Ana Maksimovich (CP) def. Hannah Nabhan 6-3, 6-1; 2. Emily Rhee (CP) def. Olivia Vesling 5-7, 6-3, 6-4; 3. Karlye Sopezak (CP) def. Peyton Martinson 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles -- 1. Caroline Sarbieski/Emily Campbell (CP) def. Kara Maggio/Eliza Tumbas 6-2, 6-2; 2. Caroline Johnson/Erica Green (CP) def. Rachel Fredenburg/Megan Hill 6-4, 7-5.

Record: Chesterton 7-3 (5-2 DAC).

JV: Chesterton wins 6-5.
