CHS Girls Tennis blanks Portage

The Chesterton girls tennis team dominated singles play and cruised to a 5-0 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Portage on Tuesday.

Hannah Nabhan improved to 10-2 on the year and 6-0 in DAC play with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Teya Forney at No. 1 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Olivia Vesling beat Carly Jones 6-4, 6-2 and Peyton Martinson beat Bethany Majewski 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

In doubles, Kara Maggio and Eliza Tumbas outlasted Jenna Enright and Alyssa Comerford 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 for the win at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Megan Hill and Rachel Fredenburg had to battle back from a first set loss to beat Cassie Quiroz and Hannah Doell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Trojans return to the court tonight when they host No. 6 Munster beginning at 4:15 p.m.

Doubles -- 1. Kara Maggio/Eliza Tumbas def. Jenna Enright/Alyssa Comerford 6-2, 2-6, 6-4; 2. Megan Hill/Rachel Fredenburg def. Cassie Quiroz/Hannah Doell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Record: Chesterton 7-2 (5-1 DAC).

JV: Chesterton wins 9-1.
