CHS Girls Tennis beats Andrean 4-1

The Chesterton girls tennis team won for the second time in as many days after a 4-1 victory over Andrean on Wednesday.

In singles, Hannah Nabhan started things off at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Elizabeth Puntillo. Ashley Fazekas followed that with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Alexa Zaleski at No. 2.

Kara Maggio finished the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maddie Jurgenson at No. 3.

In doubles, Rachel Fredenburg and Megan Hill beat Sarah Sim and Jess Townsend 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1.

The Trojans return to the court tonight when they travel to LaPorte for a 4:15 p.m. start.

Singles -- 1. Hannah Nabhan def. Elizabeth Puntillo 6-0, 6-1; 2. Ashley Fazekas def. Alexa Zaleski 7-5, 6-0; 3. Kara Maggio def. Maddie Jurgenson 6-3, 6-2.

Doubles -- 1. Rachel Fredenburg/Megan Hill def. Sarah Sim/Jess Townsend 6-4, 7-5; 2. Jenn Townsend/Nicky Mohan (A) def. Taylor Nemtuda/Amanda Slivka 6-4, 4-6, 10-3.

Record: Chesterton 4-3.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 6, Andrean 4

The Chesterton junior varsity beat Andrean 6-4 on Wednesday.

In singles, winners for the Trojans included Korie Berdine (No. 2) and Hannah Hill (No. 3).

In doubles, the teams of Eliza Tumbas/Samantha Fazekas (No. 1), Hailee Ellenwood/Maddy Haskell (No. 2), Rachel Byrnside/Christian Charlson (No. 3) and Jenna Aguilar/Sophia Winski (No. 6) all won.
