The Chesterton girls soccer team had little trouble in picking up its first
Duneland Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 7-0 win at
Michigan City on Tuesday.
Bridget Brendza started the scoring by heading a corner kick from Nicki
Kollar into the goal for a 1-0 lead. Brendza returned the favor soon after
as Kollar made it 2-0.
Leading 3-0 at the half, Kollar added two more goals, while Brendza and
Elizabeth Benson rounding out the scoring.
The defense was led by Sara Tumbas, Angelia Jeka, Kristen Mabry and Halle
Charlebois combined with the goalkeeping of Alex Bucko for the shutout.
The midfield contingency of Madisyn Coudriet, Bethany Molnar, Ciera Brown,
Tia Peters, Claire Brady, Savannah Watson and Sam Wilson kept the ball in
the Trojans’ offensive half most of the match.

Chesterton 10, Michigan City 0
The Chesterton junior varsity won its season-opener 10-0 at Michigan City on
Tuesday.
Scoring for the Trojans were Nadia Mario, Caitlin Talaga, Katie Green,
Jordan Wadding, Haley Ochoa, Becky Ruhmann and Belghozhane.
Assists were made by Mario, Kaylee Lindahl, Katie Green, Wadding and Haley
Ochoa.
