CHS Girls soccer team shuts out Highland

The Chesterton girls soccer team continued its winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Highland on Saturday.

“It was a pretty comfortable win,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “I wasn’t impressed with our first half even though we scored. The second half, we actually played better and connected more passes and played like we had a plan.”

Addy Joiner scored all three goals for the Trojans in the victory with Olivia Hansen (2 assists) and Ashlee Bakaitis (1 assist) dishing out helpers.

“It’s nice to have Addy on the team,” Forgey said. “She’s getting better at not wasting chances. Today she had three goals on three shots.”

Marney Sisson recorded eight saves.

“Marney and the defense combined to get another shutout,” Forgey said. “Even though our attack took a while to get a flow going, our defense looked solid throughout.

“At no point did it feel like we were going to concede a goal today.”

The Trojans return to the field on Tuesday when they host Portage. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
