CHS Girls Soccer shuts out Portage

The Chesterton girls soccer team had little trouble in getting a 6-0 Duneland Athletic Conference win at Portage on Tuesday night.

“This was a fun game to be a part of,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “This was some of the best soccer we’ve played all year. We put on an outstanding performance.”

Goal scorers for the Trojans included Addy Joiner (2), Ashlee Bakaitis, Gina Geenen, Annalisa Hackett and Sydney Stott.

“We were generating goal-scoring chances from every direction,” Forgey said. “Everything we did, there was a thought behind it.”

Joiner, Bakaitis, Geenen and Kaitlyn Kogl all handed out assists. Carley Balas and Hollie Skoczek combined in goal for the shutout.

Chesterton -- Addy Joiner 2 goals, 1 assist; Ashlee Bakaitis 1 goal, 1 assist; Gina Geenen 1 goal, 1 assist; Annalisa Hackett 1 goal; Sydney Stott 1 goal; Kaitlyn Kogl 1 assist.

Record: Chesterton 9-3-1.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 1, Portage 0

The Chesterton junior varsity beat Portage 1-0 on Tuesday.

Sophie DeRuntz scored the game’s only goal on an assist from Olivia Montes. Hollie Skoczek and Liz Pokorney combined in goal for the shutout.
