CHS Girls Soccer cruises to win

The Chesterton girls soccer team picked up another Duneland Athletic Conference victory with an 8-0 shutout over Portage on Tuesday night.

“We combined well, looked to get in behind their defense and had a really fun time with it,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “We scored from crosses, from close range and from distance.”

Goal scorers for the Trojans included Addy Joiner (3), Gina Geenen (2), Grace Bamber (2) and Kaitlyn Kogl. Assists were dished out by Ingrid Hurst, Joiner, Kogl (2), and Annalisa Hackett.

CHS returns to the field on Saturday when they host Northridge beginning at 11 a.m.

Chesterton -- Addy Joiner 3 goals, 1 assist; Gina Geenen 2 goals; Grace Bamber 2 goals; Kaitlyn Kogl 1 goal, 2 assists; Ingrid Hurst 1 assist; Annalisa Hackett 1 assist.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 5, Portage 0

The Chesterton junior varsity improved to 8-2 on the year with a 5-0 victory over Portage.

Ava Komp, Tia Seerup and Olivia Virgil and Olivia Montes (2) scored goals for the Trojans. Seerup also added two assists.
