CHS Girls pick up DAC win at Michigan City

The Chesterton girls basketball team outscored Michigan City 33-23 after halftime and picked up a 58-51 Duneland Athletic Conference road victory Friday night.

The Trojans finally took charge of the contest in the fourth quarter when a 6-0 run that included three free throws from Caroline Puntillo and a 3-point basket by Jocelyn Lipscomb put Chesterton on top for good 46-40.

Puntillo led the Trojans with 21 points (12-of-14 from the foul line), while Kelsey Conway added 11 points. Lipscomb tallied six points in the win.

On the night, CHS hit on 17-of-28 foul shots and were 19-of-48 from the field (40 percent). Michigan City connected on 19-of-47 shots from the field.

Michal Miller had 32 points for the Wolves.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 52, Michigan City 11

The Chesterton junior varsity held Michigan City to one basket in each of the final three quarters and cruised to a 52-11 victory on Friday night.

Shannon McCoy led the Trojans with 10 points, while Lia Lombardini had nine points. Jenna Tarnowski, Cammie Brown, Tara Schnadenberg and Morgan Skube all had six points.

Rounding out the scoring were Daisy Judy (5 points), Xaundra Rodriguez (2 points) and Teressa Raffin (2 points).
