CHS Girls Hoops falls at Gary West, 80-49

The Chesterton girls basketball team dropped an 80-49 decision at Gary West on Tuesday night.

The Trojans fell behind by 23 points in the first half, but battled back to within 37-26 at the half. A 20-8 run by the Cougars in the third quarter put the game away.

Shannon McCoy led Chesterton with 26 points, including four 3-pointers.

Rounding out the scoring for the Trojans were Chelsea Jackson (7 points), Courtney Krol (7 points), Jenna Tarnowski (3 points), Sarah Dzierba (3 points), Maddie Scott (2 points) and Hailey Vale (1 point).

Chesterton returns to the court on Friday night when they host Merrillville in a boys-girls doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 68, Gary West 20

The Chesterton junior varsity had little trouble in picking up a 68-20 victory over Gary West on Tuesday night.

The Trojan offense was led by Haley Moore with 20 points, while Ashley Craycraft added 18 points.

Rounding out the scoring for CHS were Evelyn Pabon (10 points), Marney Sisson (8 points), Molly Slatcoff (6 points), Tori Balon (4 points) and Nikki Arndt (2 points).
