CHS girls cross country team takes 2nd in the Duneland Conference

The Chesterton girls cross country team finished second overall in Saturday’s Duneland Athletic Conference Meet at Lake Central.

Valparaiso won the team title with 36 points, followed by the Trojans (68), LaPorte (71), Crown Point (81), Lake Central (114), Portage (172), Merrillville (175) and Michigan City (258).

Shelby Bullock led Chesterton with a school-record setting performance of 18:06 to finish third overall behind the Valpo duo of Ava Gilliana (18:03) and Logan Ferngren (18:04).

Bullock was followed to the line by Nalani Malackowski (11th, 18:59), Kara Krol (12th, 19:05), Elizabeth Canright (18th, 19:40), Taylor Edwards (24th, 19:58), Rachel Hoffmann (26th, 20:00) and Rebecca White (27th, 20:06).
