CHS Girls beat West Side 61-32

The Chesterton girls basketball team improved to 12-3 on the season with a 61-32 non-conference victory over Gary West Side on Wednesday night.

The Trojans held the Cougars scoreless in the first quarter, building an 11-0 lead, and then pushed the lead to 25-10 at the half.

Emma Schmidt led CHS with 13 points, while Ashley Craycraft (11 points), Carley Balas (10 points) and Lauren Davis (10 points) all finished in double figures.

Rounding out the scoring were Geneva Nelson (7 points), Nalani Malackowski (6 points), Emma Pape (2 points), Jaelynne Corral (1 point) and Sophia Raffin (1 point).

The Trojans return to the court on Friday night when they travel to Merrillville to take on the Pirates. The JV game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 52, Gary West Side 21

The Chesterton junior varsity had little trouble in picking up a 52-21 victory over Gary West Side.

Kristina Kokot led the Trojans with nine points, while Emily Richardson, Manna Singh and Madison Davis all added seven points each.

Rounding out the scoring were Liz Pokorney (6 points), Chloe Wisniewski (5 points), Amani Brown (5 points), Bree Gentry (4 points), Abi Drew (1 point) and Anna Hawkins (1 point).
