CHS Girls beat Hanover Central in basketball

The Chesterton girls basketball team snapped its losing streak with a 61-19 non-conference win at Hanover Central on Friday night.

The Trojans led 10-8 after one quarter of play, then blew out to a 26-13 halftime lead and was never threatened again.

Ashley Craycraft (9 rebounds, 5 steals) led the offense with 16 points, while Nalani Malackowski added nine points.

Rounding out the scoring were Marney Sisson (7 points, 10 rebounds), Carley Balas (6 points), Molly Slatcoff (5 points), Emma Schmidt (5 points), Evelyn Pabon (4 points), Hollie Skoczek (3 points), Geneva Nelson (2 points), Kaitlyn Carr (2 points), Sydney Balas (1 point) and Haley Moore (1 point).

Chesterton returns to the court on Saturday when they play in the Warsaw Holiday Tourney.

The Chesterton junior varsity cruised to a 46-25 victory at Hanover Central on Friday night.

Lauren Davis and Carley Balas led the Trojan offense with 10 points each. Hollie Skoczek added seven points in the win.

Rounding out the scoring were Emma Pape (6 points), Geneva Nelson (5 points), Elizabeth Pokorney (4 points), Sophia Raffin (2 points) and Tori Gerhardt (2 points).
