CHS Boys Track splits with Merrillville and Portage

The Chesterton boys track team split a pair of Duneland Athletic Conference meets with Portage and Merrillville on Tuesday night at Merrillville.

The Trojans beat Merrillville 70-62 and fell 69-63 to Portage.

Individual winners for the Trojans included Kevin Kenney in the 1600 (4:39.30), Austin Palombizio in the 800 (2:03.70), Joe Troop in the 200 (22.51), Andrew Kearney in the 3200 (9:45.38) and Justin Zosso in the pole vault (15-6).

CHS also won the 4x800 relay with the quartet of Tyler Rusboldt, Billy Biehl, Kearney and Palombizio in 8:22.43.

Second place finishers included Richie Ruff in the 110 hurdles (15.42) and the 300 hurdles (41.18), Troop in the 400 (50.26), Kenney in the 3200 (10:20.05), Donnie Johnson in the high jump (5-10) and Nick Raffin in the pole vault (12-6).

Third place finishers were Evan Mazurkiewicz in the 3200 (10:24.29), Troop in the long jump (20-3 1) and Tevin Dilosa in the high jump (5-8).
