John Petro and
David Archbald finally got their marquee win.
Petro and Archbald
battled to a 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 victory over Griffin Swartzentruber and Kyle
Kennedy at No. 2 doubles to lift the Chesterton boys tennis team to a 3-2
victory over Lake Central on Tuesday night.
“John (Petro) and
David (Archbald) needed a win like this,” Chesterton coach Tom Bour said.
“They’ve been so close to winning some big matches, but have come up just
short. To cap off this win for us was huge.”
The other two
victories for the Trojans came in singles as Drake Redman beat Carson Miller
6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Troy Feller beat Connor Pinsky 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
"Heading into the
season, I was going to be happy with just being in the conversation of the
top teams in the conference,” Bour said. “So to not only win it, but to go
undefeated with five guys playing varsity for the first time, is a big
tribute to the boys on how hard they worked in the off-season.”
CHS returns to the
court on Thursday when they travel to face No. 7 Munster beginning at 4:15
