CHS Boys Tennis sweeps Michigan City

The Chesterton boys tennis improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 5-0 victory at Michigan City on Thursday.

In singles, Luke Liapes had little trouble in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 over Connor Reynolds. Fabio Haiduc repeated the performance with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2.

John Powell completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Luke Poulin.

In doubles, Nick Hanson and Corydon Gaff didnít drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lucas White and John Bruning.

At No. 2, James Navarro and Drew Engels beat Ryan Cuma and Kyle Yackus 6-2, 6-0.

The Trojans return to the court on Sunday when they travel to the Portage Invite. Play begins a 9 a.m.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 11, Michigan City 0

The Chesterton junior varsity beat Michigan City 11-0 on Thursday night.

Singles winners for the Trojans included Drake Redman (No. 1), Danny Vear (No. 2), Connor Potesta (No. 3) and Mark Jewison (No. 4).

Doubles winners for CHS included David Archbald/John Petro (No. 1), Sawyer Metz/Joe Wadowski (No. 2), Ian Condes/Danny Anderson (No. 3), Jason Denny/Aiden Li (No. 4), Nate Rubino/Grant Flesher (No. 5), Connor Engels/Cole Snyder (No. 6) and Jack Ward/Rhett Lubeck (No. 7).
