CHS Boys Tennis shuts out Lowell

The Chesterton boys tennis team had little trouble in picking up its eighth win of the season in a 5-0 shut out of Lowell on Monday.

In singles, Luke Liapes was first off the court with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Chris Overmeyer at No. 1. Fabio Haiduc won his match at No. 2 6-1, 6-2 over Logan Fleming, while Troy Feller completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Ronald Gryczewski.

In doubles, James Navarro and Drew Engels picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sebastian Dewitt and Landon Krambeck. At No. 2, John Powell and Drake Redman beat Scotty Griffs and Jasper Hochaum 6-0, 6-2.

Chesterton returns to the court tonight as they head to Lake Central for a 4:15 p.m. first serve.

Doubles -- 1. James Navarro/Drew Engels def. Sebastian Dewitt/Landon Krambeck 6-4, 6-2; 2. John Powell/Drake Redman def. Scotty Griggs/Jasper Hochaum 6-0, 6-2.

Records: Chesterton 8-2.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 12, Lowell 1

The Chesterton junior varsity beat Lowell 12-1 on Monday.

Singles winners for the Trojans included Danny Vear (No. 1), Connor Potesta (No. 2) and Ian Condes (No. 3).

In doubles, victories came from the duos of John Petro/David Archbald (No. 1), Sawyer Metz/Aiden Li (No. 2), Joe Wasdowski/Jason Denny (No. 3), Nate Rubino/Danny Anderson (No. 4) and Connor Engels/Cole Snyder (No. 5).

Other winners were Grant Flesher/Jack Ward (No. 6), Mark Jewison/Rhett Lubeck (No. 7), Sam Slutzkin/Alex Henderson (No. 8) and Gavin Rivera/Caius Gaff (No. 9).
