CHS Boys Tennis falls to No. 18 Fort Wayne Canterbury

The Chesterton boys tennis team finished the regular season with a 5-0 loss at No. 18 FW Canterbury on Saturday.

The lone Trojan to win a set was Nick Hanson at No. 2 singles in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 loss to Shaan Patel.

In doubles, Blake Ellenwood and Chad Whelan fell 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1 to Graham Gnafy and Arnie Lel.

Chesterton will start post-season play on Wednesday when they open up competition at the IHSAA Portage Sectional.

Singles - 1. Nishhanth Reddy (FWC) def. Matt Jewison 7-5, 6-1; 2. Shaan Patel (FWC) def. Nick Hanson 2-6, 6-2, 6-2; 3. Dhillon Patel (FWC) def. Corydon Gaff 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles - 1. Graham Gnafy/Arnie Lel (FWC) def. Blake Ellenwood/Chad Whelan 7-5, 7-5; 2. Peter Kent/Quentin Williams (FWC) def. Paul Petro/Luke Liapes 6-3, 6-4.

Record: Chesterton 8-5.

Junior Varsity

FW Canterbury 7, Chesterton 5

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped a 7-5 decision to FW Canterbury on Saturday.

Singles winners for the Trojans were Azeez Lakhani (No. 1), Aiden Li (No. 3) and John Powell (No. 4).

In doubles, Creighton Gaff and Drew Engels won at No. 1 as did James Navarro and Nate Rubino at No. 2.
