CHS Boys Soccer wins regular season finale

Back To Front Page

The Chesterton boys soccer team waited until the last second. Well, almost.

The Trojans’ Owen Hallas took a pass from Bailey Arthur with just five seconds left in the second overtime session to give Chesterton a 2-1 victory in its regular season finale at LaPorte on Wednesday.

Andrew Stephan scored the first Trojan goal off an assist from Hallas.

“We had a lot of opportunities in front of the goal,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “Their goalie is really big and he made a lot of great saves.”

The Trojans finished the regular season 10-3-2 overall and will play Portage next Wednesday in the IHSAA Valparaiso Sectional.

“I’m very happy with the regular season we had,” Sensibaugh said. “Realistically that’s a good year for us with all the injuries and the schedule we played. Hopefully it pays off starting next week.”
