The Chesterton boys soccer team picked up right where they left off in
Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 victory over Michigan City on
Wednesday night.
“Tough to start with a DAC opponent, but we handled it well,” Chesterton
coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “We’re the defending DAC champs and we got off
to a good start in working toward that again.”
The Trojans got a pair of goals from Nick Barango, John Ward and Billy Biehl,
while Kody Lobsiger, Jared O’Dell and Mason Farese all scored once.
“We came out hard, fast and furious,” Sensibaugh said. “We played with
intensity and great hustle. Kept our composure well and played with good
combinations up front.”
Ward (3), Barango, Biehl, Caleb Gmyrek and Kyle Kogler all dished out an
assist in the victory.
“Ward had a great game and we know he’s capable of it, so that was nice to
see,” Sensibaugh said. “Our defense getting the shut out is nice. We only
gave up nine goals last year and we picked up where we left off.”
The Trojans return to the field on Saturday when they host West Lafayette at
10 a.m.
