CHS Boys fall to No. 24 FW Canterbury 3-2

The Chesterton boys tennis team continued to battle the top teams in Indiana, but dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 24 Ft. Wayne Canterbury on Saturday.

“We recognized 11 seniors today and all of them have been with us throughout their entire high school careers,” Chesterton coach Tom Bour said. “Each of them represent our tennis program the proper way and, as coaches, we are very lucky to have been able to coach these guys."

Both Trojan wins came in singles as Fabio Haiduc beat Jai Kashyap 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, while Troy Feller beat Minir Agnibotri 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.

The match was held indoors at the Courts of Northwest Indiana due to the rain.

FW Canterbury 3, Chesterton 2


Singles -- 1. Kush Anend (FWC) def. Luke Liapes 6-1, 6-4; 2. Fabio Haiduc (C) def. Jai Kashyap 6-1, 6-2;

3. Troy Feller (C) def. Minir Agnibotri 6-3, 6-3.

Doubles -- 1. Dhillon Petal/Sheen Patel (FWC) def. Nick Hanson/Corydon Gaff 6-4, 6-3; 2. Quentin Williams/Ed Sun (FWC) def. James Navarro/Drew Engels 6-2, 6-2.

Record: Chesterton 9-4 overall.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 8, FW Canterbury 1

The Chesterton junior varsity picked up an 8-1 victory over Ft. Wayne Canterbury on Saturday.

Doubles winners for the Trojans were John Powell/Drake Redman (No. 1), Sawyer Metz/Joe Wadowski (No. 2), Aiden Li/Jack Ward (No. 3), Nate Rubino/Danny Anderson (No. 4), Ian Condes/Danny Vear (No. 5), John Petro/David Archbald (No. 6), Alex Henderson/ Sam Slutzkin (No. 8) and Caius Gaff/Adam Royster (No. 9).
