The Chesterton boys soccer team scored two quick goals and had little
trouble in a 4-1 IHSAA Regional Semifinal victory over Munster Thursday
night at Merrillville.
“Another total team win,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “Our
intensity was good early and when they pushed up, we were able to connect
passes and get scoring chances.”
Jared O’Dell and Trent Weller scored just 41 seconds apart in the game’s
first 10 minutes for an early 2-0 advantage. Billy Biehl scored in the
21st minute for a 3-0 halftime lead.
Munster pulled within 3-1 early in the second half, but John Ward’s goal
set the final score.
“The team is really looking forward to playing undefeated and DAC champion
Crown Point on Saturday,” Sensibaugh said. “We’ll give them everything we
have and we’re playing our best soccer right now. Come out, play loose and
let things take care of themselves.”
Crown Point beat Lake Central 5-1 in the other semifinal. The championship
match is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday at Merrillville.
