CHS Boys beat Hammond in basketball

The Chesterton boys basketball team ran its winning streak to five straight with a 72-60 victory at Hammond on Tuesday night.

The Trojans built an 18-13 lead after one quarter, but trailed 36-31 at the halftime break. A big third quarter that saw Chesterton outscore Hammond 19-9 proved to be the difference.

Ky Palombizio led the Trojans with 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Jake Wadding added 14 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Ray Yagelski (11 points), Erik Ralph (10 points), Austin Peterson (9 points), Harley Lohmeyer (5 points) and Noah Mahoney (3 points).

Chesterton hit 20-of-22 free throw attempts in the win.

The Trojans return to the court on Friday night when they travel to Valparaiso to face the Vikings. The junior varsity game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.

CHS-Valpo tickets on sale

Tickets are currently on sale for Friday night’s Chesterton at Valparaiso boys basketball game in the CHS Athletic Department.

Tickets are $6 each and are available through Thursday afternoon.

The junior varsity contest is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the varsiy game to follow.
