It ain’t over, ‘til
baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie things up
and one more in the ninth to beat Lake Central 4-3 in the IHSAA Regional
semifinal at LaPorte on Saturday morning.
“Great ball game,”
Chesterton coach Jack Campbell said. “Things looked bleak and then we come
back. Give the credit to the kids. They never quit.”
LC scored solo runs
in the second and third innings thanks to their running game.
“We knew they were
going to run,” Campbell said. “They did it against us in the two games this
year. I guess we have to just keep them off the bases.”
Austin Peterson (10 strikeouts) did just that as he allowed just one
baserunner after that, a solo home run in the fifth.
“Pete is a
tremendous competitor,” Campbell said. “He wears his emotion on his sleeve.”
The Trojans got on
the board in the third when Logan Lawson tripled with one out and scored on
Chris Torres’ RBI single.
In the sixth,
Connor Krantz singled and moved to second on an error. He scored when Austin
Peterson singled to center. Courtesy runner Patrick Sosby scored on a triple

In the ninth, Brett
Roeske beat out an infield single with one out. Following a strikeout,
Torres ripped a double to left that scored Roeske from first with the
