The Chesterton baseball team committed five errors and couldn’t overcome the damage as they fell 7-2 in Duneland Athletic Conference play at Lake Central on Monday.

Lake Central took advantage of the Trojans’ first error to score two runs in the bottom of the first and take an early lead.

Chesterton answered with a pair of solo runs in the second and third to tie the game. In the second, Cameron O’Brien led off with a single and scored on a double steal with Michael Griffin.

In the third, Tyler Sufana garnered a one-out single and stole second. Sufana moved to third when Brandon Roeske reached on an LC error. Cole Teal’s sacrifice fly plated Sufana.

Two more Chesterton errors resulted in three runs for Lake Central in the bottom of the third inning as the Indians took a 5-2 lead. LC would add solo runs in the fourth and fifth to set the final score.

Offensively, O’Brien led the Trojans with a 3-for-3 evening, while Sufana added two hits.
