baseball team pounded out 11 hits and picked up another Duneland Athletic
Conference win with a 7-2 victory over Michigan City on Tuesday night.
The Wolves scored a
solo run in the top of the first, but the Trojans answered back in their
half of the frame.
Connor Krantz led
off the inning with an infield single and stole second base. Grant Bruntís
single scored Krantz to tie the game at 1-1.
scored again in the second thanks in part to a Trojan error and again
Chesterton answered on a two-out home run from Kolton Cardenas.
Tommy Bensonís solo
home run in the third gave the Trojans a lead they would never relinquish.
In the fourth,
Logan Lawson singled and Tyler Nelson drew a walk with one out. Cardenasí
RBI single to center scored Lawson. Krantz doubled to score Nelson and
Cardenas and push the lead to 6-2.
Grant Bruntís home
run to lead off the fifth set the final score.
Cardenas, Brunt, Krantz and Brett Roeske each had two hits. Brunt, Cardenas
and Krantz also added two RBIís each.
On the mound,
Austin Peterson worked the first six innings and struck out seven. Stephen
Gilbertsen pitched the final frame and struck out two.
The Trojans return
to the field tonight when they travel to Michigan City for a 4:30 p.m. first
