CHS Athletes earn All Conference honors

A winter sports season for the record books at Chesterton High School garnered All-Duneland Athletic Conference honors for 23 Trojan student-athletes.

Three of those 22 were named the DACís Most Valuable Player in their sport, including Jordan Bush in gymnastics, Lauryn Kallay in girls swimming and Lucas Davison in wrestling.

In boys basketball, Austin Peterson and Jake Wadding were named All-DAC, while in girls basketball, Courtney Krol and Hailey Vale earned all-league honors.

In gymnastics, Sophie Hunzelman, Lexi Avey and Mia Pak joined Bush on the All-DAC team for the State Champion Trojans.

In boys swimming, the group of Nick Hanas, Noah Van Nevel, Ethan Wing, Andrew Alders, Justin Wallar and Declan Tharp all made the all-league squad.

On the girls side, the all-conference team included Kallay, Jaclyn Klimczak, Jadah Eshenauer, Piper Downing, Olivia Kroeger, Jenn Gillen and Maisyn Klimczak.

In wrestling, Davison was joined by Cade Girgenti and Eli Pokorney on the All-DAC team.

Both Goodin and Lanane said they would donate their special session pay to charities that benefit at-risk children.
