grad Eddie Wineland picked up another victory in the UFC octagon with a
knockout of Girgorii Popov at UFC 238 in Chicago on Saturday.
The 2002 CHS grad
cut Popov over the eye with solid right hands, but added a series of rights
that knocked the Russian down. Another right from Wineland caused referee
Kevin MacDonald to step in and call the fight at 4:47 of round two.
“When they’re hurt
and you know they’re hurt, stand them back up and finish them,” Wineland
told UFC News after the fight.
Wineland is now
24-13-1 all-time after handing Popov just his second career loss (13-2).
