Chesterton Volleyball wins CHS Invite title

The Chesterton volleyball team put together four solid performances on Saturday to take top honors in the CHS Invitational.

The Trojans started the day with a 25-22, 25-22 victory over Hobart and followed that with a 25-16, 25-8 win over Hammond Clark.

In the championship pool, CHS beat Boone Grove 25-15, 25-6 and Washington Twp. 25-7, 25-15.

Offensively the Trojans were led by Jessica Urycki, Sammi Ostrom and Emily Marcus, all with 21 kills on the day. Brittany Milzarek added 11 kills and Jacklyn Moleski had 10 kills.

Kennedy Baltus dished out a team-best 48 assists with Shelby Snyder garnering 27 assists.

Defensively, Jordyn Moleski led the way with 37 digs and Sara Tarnowski added 21 digs. Marcus had 18 digs and Baltus tallied 11.

On the service line, Aubrey Nagdeman had 10 aces with Ashley Hecimovich recording nine aces. Jordyn Moleski had five aces.

At the net, Milzarek had five block kills and Ostrom had four block kills. Marcus had two block kills as well.

Jordyn Moleski was named Tournament MVP, while Urycki, Nagdeman and Ostrom were All-Tournament team honorees.
