Chesterton Volleyball sweeps Portage

The Chesterton volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak and picked up its first Duneland Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 win at Portage Tuesday.

Jessica Urycki and Sara Tarnowski led the Trojans offense with seven kills each, while Emily Marcus and Sammi Ostrom each tallied six kills. Aubrey Nagdeman contributed four kills in the win.

Kennedy Baltus dished out a team-best 14 assists and Shelby Snyder had 12 assists.

Defensively, Jordyn Moleski had 22 digs with Tarnowski adding 15 and Marcus 13. Snyder added nine digs for the Trojans.

On the service line, Moleski had two service aces and Ostrom led the blocking charge at the net with three block kills.

Junior Varsity

Portage 20-25-15,

Chesterton 25-11-10

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped a tough three-set match to Portage on Tuesday.

Kaitlin Kuypers led the offense with three kills and Laney Marcus added two kills. Jenna Tarnowski dished out a team-best three assists.

Defensively, Taylor Eaton had 10 digs with Tarnowski adding six digs.

Freshman

Portage 25-18-15,

Chesterton 7-25-11

The Chesterton freshman battled but dropped a three-game match to Portage on Tuesday.

Offensively, Morgan Fulayter had four kills to lead the Trojans, while Hayley McBride added three kills. Kandice Kuypers and Maddie Jones each had one kill.

Jones dished out a team-best eight assists.

Defensively, Alex Devereaux had 24 digs and Taylor Cruz contributed 12 digs. Jones and Fulayter each had six digs.
