Chesterton Volleyball falls in Invite finals

The CHS volleyball team fell 26-28, 25-18, 15-12 to Northview in the championship match of the North Montgomery Invitational on Saturday.

To get there, the Trojans picked up victories against Cambridge City Lincoln (25-17, 25-14), North Montgomery (25-15, 22-25, 15-5) and Beech Grove (25-16, 25-22).

Offensively, Chesterton was led by Katie Urycki with 39 kills, while Shelby Ruffner had 34 kills. Emily Nix contributed 24 kills and Jennifer Williams had 15.

Williams dished out a team-best 71 assists with Ari Mahaffey recording 41 assists.

From the service line, Urycki led the way with four service aces, while Emily Marcus, Ruffner and Mahaffey had two service aces each.

Defensively, Sara Tarnowski led the way with 38 digs and Urycki added 34. Marcs tallied 20 digs with Mahaffey getting 12. Williams added 10 digs.

At the net, Ruffner and Ali Ostrom had a team-best total of six block kills. Uryck had three with Nix and Williams tallying two each.
