Chesterton Volleyball beats Merrillville in 4 games

The Chesterton volleyball team improved to 16-10 overall and 7-6 in Duneland Athletic Conference with a 23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22 win at Merrillville on Thursday.

Offensively, Aubrey Nagdeman and Sammi Ostrom each tallied 15 kills, while Emily Marcus had 11 kills. Brittany Milzarek had five kills with Jacklyn Moleski had four kills.

Kennedy Baltus recorded 27 assists with Nagdeman tallying 17 assists.

On the service line, Sara Tarnowski had three aces with Ashley Hecimovich, Marcus, Baltus and Jordyn Moleski recording two aces each.

Defensively, Jordyn Moleski had 18 digs with Marcus adding 12. Jacklyn Moleski, Baltus and Nagdeman all had 10 digs in the victory.

At the net, Ostrom had a team-high four block kills with Milzarek adding three block kills.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 25-25,

Merrillville 23-22

The Chesterton junior varsity improved to 16-13 on the season with a 25-23, 25-22 win over Merrillville.

Offensively, Haley Notzen led the way with six kills, while Lia Lombardini added five kills. Abby Moon tallied four kills with Kaitlin Kuypers adding three kills in the win.

Caitlyn Toth had a team-best 19 assists.

Defensively, Lombardini had nine digs and Laney Marcus had eight kills. Toth recorded five digs and Notzen had four digs. Kuypers tallied three digs.
